A Water Colour Of Saint Johns, Cambridge.
This tranquil scene is a view painted from the 'The Backs' walking towards a
crossing over the river Cam. The site of the college was originally a hospital
which was established in 1208. It later became the College of St. John's the
Evangelist, and was built in 1511 on the dilapidated site of the old hospital.
The present day site of St. John's is very large. It is now home to the second
largest number of students of all the colleges in Cambridge. Here then is a
lovely landscape painting of St. John's.
